VOICES ACROSS MEDIA

Voices Across Media. Radio, Sound and Intermedial Cultures Lab è un network di ricerca interdisciplinare nato intorno alle attività di Roma Tre Radio e dedicato allo studio delle culture sonore, della radio, del podcasting e delle forme di traduzione intermediale tra letteratura, arti e media.
Il network riunisce studiose e studiosi interessati al rapporto tra voce, ascolto, performance, archivi sonori e pratiche contemporanee della narrazione audio, con particolare attenzione al radiodramma, alle forme di adattamento letterario e alla valorizzazione del patrimonio radiofonico nell’ecosistema digitale contemporaneo.
Il gruppo integra ricerca teorica e practice-based, promuovendo attività di produzione sonora, ricerca archivistica, disseminazione scientifica e sperimentazione audio.

Tra le attività già realizzate:
• il workshop permanente Podcasting Shakespeare, sviluppato all’interno del progetto PRIN 2022 Applied Shakespeare, da cui sono stati realizzati gli adattamenti in podcast di “La Bisbetica Domata”, “Romeo e Giulietta” e “La Tempesta”; Romeo e Giulietta: A True (Love) Crime Story è tra i finalisti del Premio XIV International Audio Drama Festival “Grand Prix Nova”.
• il convegno Il sapere nelle tue orecchie, dedicato alle forme di disseminazione della ricerca attraverso il podcast accademico – 10 e 11 aprile 2025;
• attività di produzione radiofonica e podcasting culturale attraverso Roma Tre Radio;
• gli spettacoli della compagnia radiofonica Literary Soundscapes realizzati presso il teatro Palladium – 8 aprile 2025 e 28 aprile 2026 – all’inerno della rassegna Shakespeare Encore.
• il Club del Podcast di Roma Tre Radio, spazio permanente di educazione all’ascolto critico e sonic literacy delle culture del podcast contemporaneo.
Attraverso il dialogo tra radio studies, sound studies, literary studies e media history, il network promuove collaborazioni con istituzioni culturali, archivi sonori e centri di ricerca nazionali e internazionali interessati alle forme contemporanee della cultura audio e dell’ascolto.

Voices Across Media. Radio, Sound and Intermedial Cultures Lab is an interdisciplinary research network developed around the activities of Roma Tre Radio and dedicated to the study of sound cultures, radio, podcasting, and forms of intermedial translation across literature, the arts, and media.
The network brings together scholars interested in the relationship between voice, listening, performance, sound archives, and contemporary practices of audio storytelling, with particular attention to radio drama, forms of literary adaptation, and the enhancement of radio heritage within the contemporary digital ecosystem.
The group integrates theoretical and practice-based research, promoting activities in sound production, archival research, scholarly dissemination, and audio experimentation.

Activities carried out so far:
the ongoing workshop Podcasting Shakespeare, developed within the PRIN 2022 project Applied Shakespeare, which has produced podcast adaptations of The Taming of the Shrew, Romeo and Juliet, and The Tempest. Romeo and Juliet: A True (Love) Crime Story was selected as a finalist for the 14th International Audio Drama Festival “Grand Prix Nova”;
the conference Knowledge in Your Ears, dedicated to forms of research dissemination through academic podcasting (10–11 April 2025);
radio production and cultural podcasting activities through Roma Tre Radio;
performances by the radio company Literary Soundscapes, staged at Teatro Palladium (8 April 2025 and 28 April 2026) as part of the Shakespeare Encore series;
the Roma Tre Radio Podcast Club, a permanent space for education in critical listening and sonic literacy within contemporary podcast cultures.
Through the dialogue between radio studies, sound studies, literary studies, and media history, the network fosters collaborations with cultural institutions, sound archives, and national and international research centres engaged in contemporary audio culture and listening practices.
